Překlady básní

Moji oblíbení básníci (Vodička, Šrut, Orten, Nezval) a pár jejich básní, jež jsem přeložila do angličtiny, abych jim tímto vzdala hold.

NOCI

Vítězslav Nezval

Noc převrhla svůj zlatý úl nad sady večerů,
Nad černé věže katedrál a atelierů,
nad černé hráze z porfyru, nad gigantická děla,
Jež týčila se v nádvořích jak lunou zkamenělá
Třesk oken, hukot paláců a heraldický prach
se třyptil v mřížích kapliček jak slunce na márách
Ze stonásobných arkýřů zněl temný hukot pián
A průvod bílých jeptišek se ztrácel v květech lián.

HAIL TO THE NIGHT

Vítězslav Nezval

The night toppled its golden hive over the evening park
Over black domes and studios which lingered in the dark
Over the ramparts almighty and giant cannons snared
That towered in the midnight yards while magical moon glared.
Clashing of windows, palaces, rumbling strong as a curse
Heraldic dust on chapel grilles sparkled like sun on hearse.
Thousands of sombre pianos rumbled from gloomy towers
Procession of white nuns vanished into liana flowers.

JSEM NA POLIBEK MALÝ

Jiří Orten

JSEM NA POLIBEK MALÝ,
povídal trávě zajíc,
když přiběhl k ní zdáli.
léta mi utíkají,
povídal trávě zajíc

a dobrýtro se mi líbí,
přiběhl jsem až zdáli,
dobrýtro se mi líbí.
Přece tě nepolíbím,
jsem na polibek malý,

léta mi utíkají
rychleji, než se chce,
povídal trávě zajíc.
Léta mi utíkají
tak divoce,

chtěl bych je dohoniti,
ještě než bude tma,
povídal trávě zajíc.
Chtěl bych je dohoniti.
A střihnul ušima.

TOO YOUNG FOR KISS I AM

Jiří Orten

TOO YOUNG FOR KISS I AM,
a rabbit told a grass,
From far place when he came.
The years are passing by,
a rabbit told a grass

and a "goodmorning" I like,
from far place I have come,
and a "goodmorning" I like.
I will not kiss you then,
Too young for a kiss I am.

The years are passing by
wilder than one desires,
a rabbit told a grass.
The years are passing by
so fast,

to catch them I would like,
before darkness appears,
a rabbit told a grass.
To catch them I would like.
And swiftly flicked his ears.

Prology

Dík za tu svatojánskou noc
s drobnými kroky a netopýry
Jako z granátového jablka
jsme z ní vybírali vzácné
potichlé minuty
už skoro milostní
I když jsem tušil že právě plaší
plaší sami sebe
žebráckým pláštěm podšitým liščinou
Prvotně jsme spolu popásali slova
mekotající toužebně po nás
jako ztracené jehničky
Prvotně jsem si všiml
podobnosti tebe a srn
a chtěl mít ústa tichá
a ani nešlápnout
na tvůj stín na dláždění
Usnula svatojánská noc
a nazítří bylo Prospera
a mně se splašil kůň
na tržišti

FIREBIRD

Prologues

Thanks for that Midsummer Night
with tiny steps and bats
We were picking precious quiet minutes from it
like from a pomegranate
almost amorous
Although I sensed that we were shy
startling each other
with a beggar fox-lined cloak
For the first time we shephered words
bleating and yearning for us
like lost little lambs
For the first time I noticed
the resemblance between you and a doe
and wanted my mouth to be silent
and not even to dare step
onto your shadow on the pavement
Midsummer Night fell asleep
and the day after it was Prospero´s Day
and my horse bolted
at the market

U TRATI PES

Pavel Šrut

U trati pes
souká se do králičí kůže. Mráz
zvedá krajinu s praštící pumpou
na řetězu, krajina
obrací naběhlý jazyk hlíny. Ještě slámu
provketlou v hladkých útrobách
králíka, vnitřnosti
z povřísla, a tvé oči,
pamatuji. V očích
jen krajina. Odněkud
zhloubi váží vodu.

A DOG BY THE RAILWAY TRACK

Pavel Šrut

A dog by the railway track
crawls into the rabbit skin. Frost
heaves the landscape with the cracking
chained pump, the landscape
turns over the swollen tongue
of the earth. And other things - the straw,
flourished in the smooth
entrails of the rabbit, sheaf binder bowels, and your eyes,
I remember. There is only landscape
in the eyes. Somewhere from the depth
it draws and weighs the water.
